I wonder if he's related to Farhad Mansourian.
They're drinking from the same well of cost overruns and
underfunded rail operations.
Follow the bouncing ball: The $77 B cited in the article as the current
cost only covers construction. SMART has spent $700 million
on getting just 43 miles of line in operation and one year of operating
trains.
Gee, what do you know ...CHSR trains will cost a fortune
to operate, involving huge taxpayer subsidies to get passengers
on the train.
SMART's is currently costing about $25 per passenger according to its
published financial data. One can only imagine what the subsidy
would be per CHSR passenger ...that is, if it ever takes any passengers.
Am I too cynical? Or realistic?
