And trying to "play back" the signal aspect would be impossible as the mechanics of this system are too inter-dependent and impacted by temperature, humidity, wear, dirt, contact, etc...

This is a SafTran colorlight signal, either prossibly installed the SP or an SP-style installation copyed by Metrolink. I've noticed that many of these installations don't use retained-neutral polar relays to control the indications.
