Let's see now. I recently bought an electric hot water pot (from a local bigbox store), and to turn it on, you push the switch down This is exactly opposite of US practise: up is on, down is off (except with 3-way switches). Down = ON is Britsh and commonwealth practise, but it turned out the teapot was made in France. Last I heard, the French and English haven't really gotten over thier friendly row over Elenore of Aquitaine and Agincourt (especially the French), so why is France using the Britsh scheme for electrical switches? Then I looked up this type interchange on widipedia, and it shows driving on the left !?!? The only place in the US where you keep to the left is the US Virgin Islands. Wikipedia says the first known example of this kind of intersection was in France. Maybe it's France's revernge for the Great Orange Cheeto's antics at the recent WWI ceremonies.
