I think it was a well-behaved crowd simply because they were there to pay their last respects to a good man and, viewed with perfect hindsight, not a bad President overall. They weren't there to watch the train as a goal, and to get that perfect picture from between the rails or the edge of the ties. Conservative or liberal (though in Texas outside of Austin conservative is a good bet) doesn't really matter; one can appreciate the gravity of the occasion without dragging politics into it all that much. UP carried of its part of the exercise with style, but that also was to display appropriate respect to Mr. Bush. Good job all around.
