But look at everything the museum has done.

They got the Santa Fe collection about 20 years ago so they could... let it rust and be extensively vandalized.

They took the SP 1771 2-6-0 apart about 20 years ago so they could... leave it in pieces, never to be displayed even statically.

They cut the nose off the Krauss-Maffei (about 20 years ago?) so they could... never fabricate a new nose for it, and never display it.

They got the UP 4466 0-6-0 about 20 years ago so they could... wear it out, maybe never to be run again.

These guys treat their historic equipment like a bunch of kids who take their toys apart, then either get bored with it and move to the next "project", or forget how to put it together again.
