If ANYONE has the money this is the trip worth taking. This railroad abandoned in 1956 by putting the last locomotive in the roundhouse and going home. It's ALL still there !!!!! Most of it right where it was in 1956 !! Granted there is a thick layer of rust on some of it. All of the equipment, save for a couple of small diesel switchers , is indigenous to the property. The sad part is that a lack of funds has allowed deferred maintenance to catch up with the operation. FRA rules on steam have cause all but one of the little mikes to be stored due to boiler issues. I was last there in 1971. We lived in Maryland and made several trips. Real rail fans have cinders in their hair at the end of the day. When the FEBT says that the backshop is complete, they aren't kidding. How many tourist operations are running equipment purchased NEW from Baldwin by the railroad they are running???? FEBT has tours that walk or drive the ROW on a regular basis. If the funds were available I would go. Get up and go. You won't regret it.

Another bonus.... How many narrow gauge Brill gas-electrics are there? Especially those built from KITS from Brill? Check out the M-1 while you are there.
