My father in law was an original investor in Orchard in 1931 and over the years we became fruends with the legendary Al Smith who with his brother Loren managed OSH— and of course we had the railfan connection as well— our daughter went to work in the OSH corporate headquarters in 2013 and when Lowes announced in Aug they were shutting the OSH stores our daughter and 26 other people of the 300 in the corp headquarters were called into a conference room and told they were selected to oversee the shutting down of thevstores—all the other employees were escorted off the property. Her last day was Oct 24 and all stores were shut by Nov.2. Sad end of an era for our farming family. For the last 20 years or so I have sent the OSH calendars to 6 of my out of state railfan friends and daughter told me last year there would be no more but at the time we fidnt know it would be becausebthe stores would be gone.
