I own textbooks and have taught classes, we've done a couple of hundred years of operational analysis, so when does the miracle occur with this "single track" fixed guideway system.

This was drilled by a conventional boring machine technology used on our vast system of underground water and sewer infrastructure, so compared to the 54' double bored, double dfull FHWA clearance (with shoulders for breakdowns), 8 lane (2 top, 2 bottom, both directions, tunnel that Doug Failing came up with at LACMTA), there is nothing "visionary", or "revolutionary", or "paradigm" shifting about any of that. We're boring tunnels for water, sewers, the Wilshire extension, and the cross town LRT connector, better built and safer than this one.

How does this fixed guideway "single track" "road" system "work". What volumes is it to be designed to handle? What is the proposed flow rate? What is the peak and off peak demand? What is the ratio of vehicles entering the system to vehicles exiting this system? How do you maintain flow in the event of incidents or breakdowns....??????? And, what are the answers to about a hundred other "operational" questions?

Then, of course, what are the costs of all of this? What is the proposed pricing structure? What are the likely demand profiles, based on that "fare structure"? What is the "cash flow" form that fare structure and demand? What is the "break even" point, at what level of investment, at what demand, and what resultant cash flow does this "break even" and become "profitable"? What is the expected ROI (near and long term) for potential investors?

All of these questions remain completely unanswered for any potential investor, despite the mountains of this project has generated in pure unadulterated ego worshiping media hype?

Until these "stupid" mundane "operational" and "financial" questions start getting some more "substantive" answers and more solid "numbers", I'd think it would be absurd to talk about any investment in Elon's latest "visionary" publicity stunt.
