Wow that pretty much puts the last nail in the coffin for the Mare Island RR. Most people are unaware of how much trackage exists. Many miles of track over half street running ,nearly every industrial building has a spur running inside of it. Yard tracks,a wye, crossovers. The main st. is called Railroad st. The whole Navy yard was supported by rail with tracks dockside to load directly onto ships and tracks at the dry docks to supply materials to rebuild ships.
