I believe it was their Dash-7 line. I'm not sure how early GE began offering modular components, but the FH20 battery charging voltage regulator with two cards was likely one of the first applications.

BTW - the DDA40X was the first EMD with Dash-2 electrical I know of. But later SD45s apparently received at least GV and GX modules which allowed a much simpler transition scheme. There were a few late SD40-2 units that got Super Series electrical systems same as later 50 series.
