The 3 main projects Muni is doing now all suffer from being lazily conceived and politicized. The Central Stubway was moved to a secondary route and now would logically end up at Kirkland Yard. Not to rule out something more bizarre.
The 2 BRT's underwhelm. Van Ness as it was amounted to about as good as can be, seeing it is an important auto route as well. Idem for Geary with curbside loading safer than center. Transit timed or triggered traffic lights and trolley buses out of Presidio Yard would have been a better use of the money. Muni will be embarrassed if it finds battery only articulateds cannot cut Geary loads and they want to remain hybrid.
So in that muddled, lackadaisical context does an 8 block or so cable extension seem so profligate?
