I will be traveling from Dallas Texas making a trip out to Portland Oregon in May for work and have luckily worked it out timing wise to see what I can of the UP Big Boy 4014 and 844 while passing through Wyoming and Utah. I am curious if there are any chances the Southern Pacific 4449 might be doing any special runs in the Portland area around this time too to celebrate the golden spike? Would love to see this engine again as I have not seen her run since I was a kid when it went through Texas on its way to the worlds fair. If not either way I will definitely be stopping by their heritage center to see the other steam locomotives in Portland also.... and checking out some of the good breweries I hear that are in Portland too.
