Instead of all this palaver about whether one loco is more appropriate than another, how about a plan to take Central Pacific No. 1, the Gov. Stanford, out of the CSRM and haul it up to Promontory? It's not operable, but is one showy 4-4-0 that actually operated on the Central Pacific. It could be pushed by any number of historic steamers or diesels.
