I recall reading in Espee Tech's Trainline magazine that the Stack - Pacs were built to protect high - dollar Cadillacs & Buicks during shipping. Conversely the Verta - Pac was designed to haul GM's entry - level ( i.e. - cheap ) Vega & Astre at an astounding Thirty autos per rail car !!! This was accomplished by standing the cars up on end, 15 to a side.
