In today's corporate world, I am really surprised that the Steam Program has lasted this long.

No they won't scrap them. Likely they will be donated to a "Friends of the UP" or "UP Historic Rail Museum" or some such entity, which UP may even fund to some extent, but doubtful that they'll be running. Best hope is that the entity would keep one runnable, and the UP would have arrangements to occasionally use it for special events.

It is not a profit center. I don't see it surviving on the UP's own books.
