Sandy let me into the office but I never bothered her while she was working the board. I thank Dick for his correct spelling of the "Teals." I initially I did not have a letter to be on the property. I kind of flew under the radar. However when I because SP's meteorologist for the Hill, I really didn't need permisson because most of the operating folks knew me, and like Dick Dorn, afforded many rides on Flangers, Spreaders and yes, rotaries. Stein did have a letter but he didn't need it. What suprised me about Norden it that during the 1970's and 80's, I never saw another railfan wander into the Operators shack. It was simple curiosity in the late 1960's that I ventured down the long covered steps into the Woolworth Building and eventually to the Operators sack. I met Dick on one of those visits. On some weekends I would stay with Harry and Mary Hanns and He would stay with Shorty. Around 1978, I had my own phone installed in Harry's train room so that I could do my forecasts from Norden.
