Re: Did Amtrak use old track #1 over Donner Pass?

Mr. Dorn,
I'm a bit confused. I've been at the Norden site, but not before the #1's abandonment in 1992 or 1993. My times up there was Sept 2009 (driving) and then on 5/6 in Nov 2012, and again in Mar 2017. I wasn't aware that during those times the cookhouse and station was still standing. I was under the impression, without trespassing into what was left of the sheds (Other than as a passenger on Amtrak) that the remaining sheds were for the covered crossover there, and just a bit of the original #1 that was being used as a storage track. The pictures I've seen of the cookhouse from you and Steinheimer had me assuming that it was torn down either with the abandonment of Norden around 1985 or 86, or at least by the time the turntable area was demolished the following decade.
Any clarification on this would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric
