The Ballard Terminal Railway operates on a small remnant of the original GN line into Interbay from Everett, WA. This line continues East, under " The Ballard Bridge " visible in the background, ( a roadway bridge for 15th Ave N.W. with double lifts ), then continues East to BTRR's small engine enclosure & the home of ex - Milwaukee Road SW-1 # 52 -- now BTRR # 98. Before the Hiram Chittenden Locks ( AKA - The Ballard Locks ) were built, the GN line then formed the West leg of a wye onto a lower elevation swing bridge across the waterway. NP used the East leg of the wye to access their former Seattle, Lake Shore & Eastern trackage to Woodinville, Issaquah, and North Bend, WA.
