Been shot at on the railroad (Oakland, Stockton, Marysville), it's basically over by the time you figure out what's happening. Beyond that, it's just luck. Confronting a drunk is one thing (had some experiences with that), but somebody hopped up on various drugs is another. I once had a maniac come at me one night, but I discouraged him by sticking a lit fusee in his face. Many people who carry guns are in no way prepared or qualified to use them, and are likely to do much more harm than good (and yes, I own a couple myself). I imagine Hutch is also onboard with that Texas idea of teachers carrying guns at school.
