What part of UP cancelled the special move are you people unable to understand?
All this crap about routing and movement at night is nothing more than foamgasms.
Come to think of it, why the hell would the track and bridges need any inspections other than what they regularly get? After all the entire route is good for 286k carloads and it handled a lot larger and heavier steam locomotives than 2472 as recently as 10 years ago.
And no. Except for the 2472, there is not a single friction (plain) bearing or cast iron brake shoe in the whole lot. And since 2472 will be dead, where is the spark and fire hazard?
