I do know the difference between weather and climate. I've gone to the free NASA/JPL Von Karmen series lecture, on climate change every year for the last 10 years (it's available on-line). I also served on a technical committee and as a policy maker on a public board that spent over a half a billion dollars on clean mobile source air quality technology demonstrations for 20 years of my career.

I do have a degree in mathematical economics and do understand the data and the models they use to predict temperature, sea level rise, and understand the physics of too much carbon in the atmosphere trapping heat. My aunt was even an original author and researcher on one of the first NASA papers published on the detection atmospheric CO emissions from power plants, detected from space by the first spectrometers, back in the 1960's. So, I think that the science on climate change is real, and that we will need to change what we are doing, in pouring too much carbon dioxide, beyond the capacity of our natural carbon cycle to recycle and absorb back into the natural biological systems.

It is also my opinion that we will need to build probably 100 billion in infrastructure, including sea walls over the next 20 years, just on the Gulf Coast to prevent future damage, mostly in places that Trump carried by 25 points, which are in the greatest danger from what will be a significant increase in the intensity of hurricanes and sea level rise. I've told my GF's son to take the grandkids to see the Everglades, because, at current rates of sea level rise, they will be half gone by the time those little girls are my age.

I also think that there is now overwhelming evidence, that our Great Chubby Cheeto is a narcissistic delusional psychopath/sociopath, with the attention span of a two year old, and the self control of an 8 year old, who's nothing but a con man, money launderer, and thief. I now also think that the evidence is that the Great Chubby Cheeto is a third rate, bribe taking, fully compromised, Soviet traitor to the United States of America, actively working for a KGB born and bred, murdering international state sponsored terrorist, named Vladimir Putin.

Science denial from global warming to his nonsense about vaccination is just one manifestation of the Giant Cheeto's ignorance, delusional state, and desire to pander to knuckle dragging morons in stupid hats, with his rantings.

Now, as to why pandering to the other fringe is bad for us....

The best way to elect this Soviet Stooge and Traitor again, is for those who are just as ignorant and self assured on the other fringe to talk rubbish and pander to their fringe, which, as a professional, I see everyday/ I see this in the prattling of sheer nonsense from the kind of "true believers" at the complete streets movement who want to punish personal mobility, which worldwide, supplies us with our standard of living, with silly petty bourgeoisie things like food and the comforts of modern life. These folks should be focused not on the billions of tons of CO from coal fired power plants in Poland, Russia, China, and India... and yes, in the US, which represent over 3/4 of the tonnage of carbon emissions we must and actually can now effectively eliminate with our existing technologies.

I spent a career supporting clean technologies to reduce mobile source emissions, as fast, and as efficiently as it is safe and effective to do so. But, I also no that we've made massive progress on mobile sources. And, I also no that worldwide, transportation emissions are only about 22% of human caused greenhouse gas emissions. In CA, these emissions are now around 38%, not because they have gone up from around 28% in the early 90's (they are actually going down per capita and per vehicle due to clean vehicles and lower miles traveled per capita) but because the amount of coal and gas we burn for electricity have gone down.

I have seen billions in greenhouse gas reduction funds being spent on the "runaway money train" CHSRA fiasco, and while I do support a properly planned and much needed system of effective and efficient high speed, time competitive, rail passenger system for CA, I cannot justify the current fiasco as anything like that kind of investment, and which has almost no impact on our greenhouse emissions, unlike a similar level of investment in our interurban and urban rail systems, or just giving folks a tax credit to replace older AC compressors would have.....

So I have real concerns about groups on the left who prattle inflammatory nonsense, to perform "street theatre" for their base, just like I have problems with some of the idiots we get to hear from on the right, like the idiot who started this post, and who used an outright lie to make his case, as well as the with the delusional rantings of Putin's traitor in the White House.
