The " Coldest Place " in the Lower 48 states is subject to interpretation. International Falls,MN. is always in the running, as is Deeth,NV., which is the closest Weather reporting station for Halleck,NV., where the temperature once dropped to minus 36 degrees unofficially. Wells,NV. has recorded minus 42 degrees, once tied by Death Valley,CA -- yes the desert gets just as cold as it does hot.
