Pretty much anywhere where a mountain line is electrified, and they are using rear end helpers, they can provide maximum regenerative braking force running downhill. There are some locomotives (BLS Re465 comes to my mind) where the regenerative braking force is the same as the tractive force.

With such a configuration, the trains can be kept under control without the need of air brakes at all.
