Something that wasn't adressed in any of the replies was the part of the question about having dynamic braking on a "slug". Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't dynamic braking require the prime mover and alternator? Isn't the braking effort proportional to the power of the prime mover and the output of the alternator?
