I did a stint on the Eureka Southern in '85 - '86 and worked the "North Coast Daylight" passenger train several times. Frequently the train would pass shirtless men on horseback, packing very visible handguns in holsters. Passengers thought they were just part of the "show"..... probably had more to do with the numerous disguised hoses and pipes that ran from the river, under the tracks and up the hillside, disappearing into the woods. And then there were the nude beaches.....
