Spokane Area questions.

I was curious as to what the people on Altamont Press have to say about the Spokane Area.. In May, a friend (who checks here somewhat a daily basis, but rarely posts.) and I plan on visiting the Spokane area.. What I want to ask about is Spokane's history and surrounding train operations away from the UP/BNSF stuff.
I would like to know if there is anything resembling a railroad right-of-way that would be built over or torn down in May when we visit.. Can anyone provide any detail as to where any of the Seattle Lake Shore & Eastern Railroad went from Spokane, Wa to Davenport, Wa?? What is the status of the STMA shortline? Is there a website that list the STMA motive power? Also, what about the former heritage of the STMA locomotives??
Anyone know when the Pend Oreille Valley run and where there operations are based from? I see that Kettle Falls is NW of Metalline Falls.. Does anyone know what the Kettle Falls Internation run and from when in Kettle Falls?? Are the leased MRL GP9's still up there on the Kettle Falls Internation or where they returned to the MRL??
Any cool old railroad sites we should see in Spokane area??
Thanks,
Zachary
