I moved here six years ago, but I'm not in tune with much of the short line history. There are some gents who can tell you almost anything. They reside on that Yahoo Group called SpokaneRH. In the files and photos section are old maps (for use in seeing where old lines ran) and some old pics.
What I can tell you, is that the MILW trench between the brewery and Division is currently being built upon. Haven't asked what the structure is - but I'm presuming it's a university annex or something. Word from my co-worker Mark, is that UP is thinking of discontinuing the old S.I. line and simply using trackage rights along the BNSF to get through Spokane. I'll see if I can persuade him to post. He's a huge Kettle Falls fan, too. As far as I know, the old Kettle Falls line belongs to BNSF now.
The STMA boxcars are frequent sights here in the area, on the UP spurs or yard. Somebody had a few pics of the STMA locos and cabooses online. I can't remember where. You might be able to Google them up.
