Caltrain proponents should be ecstatic at the prospect of HSR never reaching the Peninsula
as all six tracks in the terminal will be available for just commuter trains. Just look
at best practice elsewhere and you'll see that 12-16 trains an hour can easily be accommodated
at a six track terminal.

London's Charing Cross(a terminal station) handles 20 arrivals and 20 departures an hour with
crush loads of 1000+ passengers per train. Passenger flow may be more of an issue at Transbay
than the actual number of trains.
