Splendid piece of visual history, PDX. The "human element" of railroading has rarely been captured quite like this. My guess is the guy doing his business (onto the track, holding onto the door) rarely got out of the office. A true rail would have at least stepped down off the ballast and aimed for the weeds. Maybe not so easy to do in dress shoes. And thanks much for the tie-in to 2001. That break-out-the-lunch scene was among many carefully-crafted moments in that movie which elevated it far above every other sci-fi/space travel movie that's ever been done.
