Rail-biking on the Camas Prairie

I started watching this video about "extreme" rail-biking on the old Camas Prairie.

These guys are waaaay up high on wooden trestles.

I don't want to discuss the tresspassing issues because I already know what everyone thinks.

I am more curious about safety of these rail bikes. How often do they derail?

Seems to me if the bike came off rail on the outboard side, the person riding would fall to his death.

Question: Are rail-bikers a little insane?
