North Coast Daylight

The car in the picture is the Hidden Lake. It ran on the NWP/NCRA/EUREKA Southern Daylight in the 80's and 90's. The car is an old GN Ranch/Coffee shop. I believe 3 or 4 of these were made in this configuration, and two were on the Eureka Southern. The other one never got painted into daylight, and I believe still remains in Willits in Amtrak Paint.
The car in the Video is not this car. The car in the video is an old SP Daylight Coach with FWD Vestibule. You can tell by the windows. SP Daylight Coaches had big windows for better views.
I used to ride the Eureka/NCRA Daylight a lot and this car was special. It had a Ranch/western style interior that made you feel like you were in the Southwest. Eureka/NCRA typically connected this car to the dining car Lake Pepin. It made for a nice dining experience while enjoying the Eel River Canyon.
I'm glad this is not being scrapped.
