Incorrect. WATCO is still operator, but they gave STB notice of discontinuance pending UP assigning to a new operator.
Watco's engine has been laying over in Wallula (UP Attalia) and early in week runs to Walla Walla; then next day to Weston and return; by end of week back to Wallula. Schedule has been off due to recent adverse weather.
The last I heard Pilot Rock was something like once a month.
Other change is with the UP "Super Fruit" train out of former Railex, now UP Cold Connect in Wallula (CP Railex). This is now apparently more of a transfer job between Wallula and Hinkle, with the reefers plus any other local freight. I haven't seen it east of Hinkle for a while so not sure what it is running with, but the days of a strictly dedicated train appear to be over. Also looks like the intermodal yard project appears dead, despite a substantial amount of grading and utility work the track has been put back in place basically the same with no specific evidence of an intermodal ramp.
