From what I've been told, the only trains that will originate at Hinkle are the following:
MHKSK, MHKET, MHKETB. Yard will be flat switched to make those trains. Hinkle has been a problem child for UP for several years due to its large amount or mis-routes that have been coming out of there. These mis-directed cars include boomerangs where loads of lumber
picked up at Sandpoint or Trentwood come back on the following days northbound. Seems that the priority at Hinkle has been getting cars out of the yard, even if it's in the wrong direction. Last year I heard a dispatcher stop a northbound at Sandpoint and have the crew
run the power around the train to send it back to Hinkle because 85 of the trains 120 cars
were mis-routes and they did not want to clog Eastport with that many cars.
