So I read the article - sounds like a typical day at MTC-BART.
There was very little technical data in the piece - like it is steel wheel, 3rd rail and driverless. No excuse for that dumbdown from the WSJ. And nothing about the choice of mode, as in why not people mover or busway since 20miles is pretty short. And the article kvetches about the difficulty of the last leg into highrise Honolulu - is there a problem with tunneling?
As to the engineering errors, who is the consultant? Actually the whole thing feels like Cali patronage and pet contractor corruption with a little Vegas monorailing thrown in. This is what "progress" and "modern" feels like?
