At least when the tower was still there, the homeless pretty much kept to themselves... My dad and I would usually get there about 7AM on a Saturday morning, and stay until around 5 or 6... Our opinion was that the homeless didn’t mess with us Railfans because the tower operator was always within arms length of a phone to call the cops if someone got hassled... I never once saw anyone get messed with in all the years I was down there... Truly an awesome place in the early 90’s to see trains... (UP)(SP)(AT&SF)(Amtrak) Plus all the offline power you could possibly imagine... I remember seeing a CSX BQ23-7 once on an SP train... Crazy
