It's mostly going through Wyoming dude.....chillax, would you.
Someone who claims not to be Lemming (we don't know that for sure, do we?) already appears to be leading some of you "off of the cliff" with this post. I'd say he's just tryin' to get folks riled up, with chum like that. And I'll be damned, if the bait didn't work like a charm.
In case some of you hadn't noticed, unlike Oakland, there's a an awful lot of "there"....there in Wyoming.
There's plenty of 'wide open spaces" to view this, without the kind of mob scenes we had when it left LA, a megalopolis of 16 million people...
Lots of folks will probably make the trek, and there will be crowds, especially as this get in "range" of the SLC megalopolis that's grown up in Utah over the last fifty years, since I last went to the centennial "soiree".
Now, about this apparent fear of the mass mayhem, martyrdom, and legal armageddon which will occur as a result of the mere presence of the big steamers…….?
Try taking a deep breath, and imagine a world where most of the people attending hopefully won't be stupid. And just try and remember, that like with some of these characters on AP, most folks will be fine. and that it is usually a small subset of so-called rail fans, that are the ones setting a bad example.
I was thinking of going to see 4014, and take in the SPHSTS/UP fandango in Ogden... And, I have every expectation of surviving the encounter. The crowd I'd miss is the one that will be at the ceremony out at the National Park, I've been many times, and it's better go see it when it's not crowded, and when the traffic I expect you'll see on those rural roads, won;t be terrible.
