Bill Killion who used to post here on AP died last year— he was a longtime volunteer engineer for the Yreka and Western Blue Goose and the day we rode, way back in the 90’s, we had our video camera and he asked us if we would film him running the loco so he could show his grandkids. Naturally, we said yes and so we rode in the cab all the way back from Montague to Yreka—- as we were nearing town Bill asked me if I would like to pull the cord to sound the whistle—- of course I said no—- yeah, right, but what I quickly discovered is that pulling that cord to make a decent sound is really hard work and my efforts were pretty sad!😀
