These ideas to build a choo-choo to Alaska have been kicking around, almost since we bought the place. There are also other famous RR dreams... like the Gerber, Eureka, and Pacific proposals.... where investor's should always be doing their homework, first.....
This is a lot of money ($17 billion would be about what we spend on Amtrak capital in about 40 years....?). So it would be interesting to see what kind of traffic base they think that they've identified, and the revenue and ROI that this would generate, over and above operating expenses (with a very long haul in a very costly operating environment), which they would need to pay that back?
I think it could be built.... We seem to be able to build pretty much anything these days, if there's enough money to throw at the problems to be overcome.... Is it worth it, though?
A real discussion would be helped by seeing what they are showing to their likely investors?
