Three 3400's(3400, 3406, 3423) were used on the Nacozari Railroad until January 1959...long after the SP "offically" killed the fire in their last steam locomotive. Perhaps someone knows when these locomotives were scrapped. It was 50 years ago last Sunday, Oct. 19, 1958, that the SP operated the final steam excursion from Sparks to Oakland using GS6 4460. For those of us who can remember SP steam the realization that this event took place a half century ago is a bit daunting.
