How the derailment scene in 'Unstoppable' was made

Unstoppable is a 2010 film by the late Tony Scott, starring Denzel Washington. It's very loosely based on an actual event that happened on the CSX in Ohio in 2001.

Those who've seen the movie will probably remember the part where a two-unit set of EMD SD40-2s derail and - naturally - explode . . . something that didn't happen in the actual incident.
