Basements are very rare in California - I wish I had the dough to lift the house and add a basement. You still would need sump pumps around here.

SMART is very poorly conceived; basically a scheme by Doug Bosco to get a free rebuild of his freight line. Expensive 2 man heavy rail with a paltry patronage base. Instead of going north where there are fewer and fewer riders it should proceed as an electric light rail to southern Marin and onto the City via the GG Bridge.

Bechtel gauge appears to be deteriorating(understandable why Crunican would want to bail)so the likelihood of Marin trendies, yuppies and Ritchie Riches wanting ghetto BART in their vicinity just about nil. It costs a lot of money to cope with bums, homeless, junkies, bangers so why ask for more. And lowers property values as you then need a dedicated shithole in which to concentrate the low lifes. Think Tenderloin.
