I believe that:
1. The $2-3 million assumes top dollar union contracts with politically connected construction companies (think Stacy & Witbeck),
2. Building the 12 foot wide asphalt bike path (not a "hiking trail") will dramatically widen the roadbed, have significant environmental issues, and will cost at least $10 million,
3. The bike path has no funding source and no plans for tolls or other user fees,
4. The train for the most part pays for itself.
5. The zoo train has higher ridership than another favorite rail line of Metro that costs over $16 million a year to operate, and whose actual ridership has NEVER come close to any of its ridership goals. (The one that cost over $160 million to build, by the way.)
