I just drove today from Orange County to Phoenix for business. Actual time on the road, 5-1/2 hours. Door-to-door, that's comparable with flying, given (a) drive time from my home to SNA, (b) check-in time at the airport, (c) the flight itself, (d) baggage claim at PHX, (e) the time consumed at the rent-a-car agency, and (f) the drive to my destination here in Tempe.

BOB2, feel free to chime in here. Am I missing something? I don't see a market for point-to-point LA-PHX service via the current Sunset Route. And with the exception of Yuma, the stretch between Indio and Phoenix is basically devoid of what is needed to generate ridership: people.
