What might be a better fit for Arizona would be short-distance "corridor" passenger trains, running between Phoenix and Tucson (or Phoenix-Tucson-Nogales). Too short to fly, very congested freeway, and is home to most of the state's residents. These short-hauls could even make scheduled connections with Trains 1-2. Of course, between Arizona's voters and UP's extortion, it will never happen. To this day, I'm amazed that light rail in Phoenix and Tucson ever got off the ground.
