What I was told was that the wealthy guys from SF rode the train down to their Monterey vacation homes on Fridays where there wives were. They stopped at their gun club on hummingbird Island on Elkhorn Slough and brought the ladies of the night with them for partying. I did not hear of regular prostitutes riding the train but it would not surprise me.
