For those who can view the Sacramento PBS stations, or whose local PBS stations carry the "Viewfinder" program, there are a couple of shows this week to celebrate the centennial. Supposedly, both are "new." Both appear to be on 6-1 over the air; cable channels vary. From a KVIE blurb:
Quote:Transcontinental Railroad
150 years ago, the Transcontinental Railroad was completed in a ceremony in Promontory Summit, Utah. Mark the anniversary of this landmark occasion with two new ViewFinder documentaries about the railway that helped connect America. In Sacramento and the Transcontinental Railroad, you’ll follow in the footsteps of the people who defied the odds and led the way to the greatest achievement of the 19th century. And in Journey to Promontory, you’ll chronicle the years that led up to its completion through interviews with some of the country’s leading rail historians.
