With all of the great positive PR the UP is getting with the return of the Big Boy I would think other railroads may be watching and taking notice of all of this as it has been unfolding over the past week now. I wonder if this might inspire the BNSF to start operating some employee appreciation specials using mainline steam for power again like they did in the past? I remember when they contracted the 4449 to run all over Washington State and up to Canada in I believe it was 2000 or 2001?? Will be interesting to see if this motivates some at the top management of the other three big railroads.... BNSF, Norfolk Southern and CSX to do some specials with mainline steam in the near future?
