"5 billion"... for the Pacheco tunnels? Yeah, right?
Hell, I guess that if you're going to "make up" a "cost estimate" without any real "sourcing", why not..."5 billion", just for laughs, right?
Or is this a convenient edit where they mean "just" the tunnels, not the rest of the costs of building that segment? That kind of "deceptive consumer marketing" would not come as any surprise to me, with the quality of taxpayer funded "salesmanship" the CAHSRA has demonstrated over its 25 years.
So, who on the CAHSRA PR consulting team supplied that Pacheco cost estimate "edit"...? And, did they remember to bill the CA taxpayers for it?
And, as to ethics issues...? It is already illegal to use Federal project funds for "lobbying", but not for "public outreach"... And, it's been my experience, that given the current state of ethics in our society, that there is no shortage of folks, who have no problem crossing that line, for the promise of a promotion and a raise.
