The Elkhorn Slough Marine Sanctuary is open Wed. through Sunday. They charge $2.50 or something like that. It is right there on Elkhorn Road about 2 miles from Dolan Road. It has several miles of easily walked trails, one of which takes you right to the tracks at the little peninsula where there was once a gun club with a really hilarious story connected to it. It is gone, BTW. You can stand there at the tracks and because of the Doppler effect, you will NOT hear a train coming until it is right there. We used to walk down there to greet and wave at our ATK Starlite engineer friends, Tommy DeLaRosa and John Medaris. The parking lot at Kirby Park is a great place to get full train length photos as we did when the AOE came through a few years ago.
BTW, great shot, Sam!
