I had resisted planning to chase the 4014 because of the high sun, expected crowds, and traffic grid lock, but at the last minute I found a couple of cheap mileage tickets to SLC and decided to make a quick trip. So I chased Ogden to just east of Evanston and had a good time.

Two days chasing the 4014

As you can see the photographic results were not great, but I finally accepted the fact it was best to just include the crowd in the pictures, it was part of the show. And the number of families out to see the Big Boy go buy was amazing, most every road along the tracks was lined with cars. And the highway patrol seemed to focus on preventing speeding and unsafe passing, and pretty much let folks park where they wanted to, as long as they were off the roadway.
